The silence was almost deafening. All was quiet in my kitchen besides the running water as it splashed over the sink full of dishes and the hum of the refrigerator..Normally, I bring my Ipad to the kitchen to keep my company as I keep busy, but this time, I had left it upstairs.
How noisy my life had become…
And that’s when I noticed the stillness and how noisy my life had become.
The internet… social media… music… talk radio and the general din of life made me realize that I rarely take the time to enjoy the moment I’m currently in.
Be Still and Know- Psalm 46:10
As I dried the last of the dishes, I thought of Psalm 46:10 that says: Be still, and know that I am God.
How can you Be Still Before God? It’s a learning process, but a root word study of the scripture tells us exactly what we need to do! The word ‘still’ (raphah) is translated in the Hebrew as to sink down, relax, to let go, and to be quiet. The word ‘know’ (yadah) means to know by experience, to be acquainted with, to perceive and see.
Have you experienced His grace? Are you acquainted with Him? Have you let go of the busyness and stress of the day to sink down, relax in, let go, and be quiet in His presence?
Let’s rapha and yadah before Him! Lovely friends, Let’s set some time aside today to sit at the Master’s feet in prayer and worship! Let’s be still and know that He is God!
