Doday I have something a bit different for you. I’ve been paired up with fellow blogger, Mary from Love the Bachers via Sussanah from Simple Moments Stick. We’ve been communicating back and forth for the past four weeks and today I’d like to feature an interview with her.
From our very first correspondence, it was clear that Mary held three things close to her heart: life, her relationship with her husband, and her faith in the Lord. Without further adieu, let’s hear from Mary!
Hello there bloggers! My name is Mary and I was privileged to be partnered with Lil through the Solidarity Sister Challenge by Sussanah from Simple Moments Stick. Lil and I spent the month of February exchanging emails and getting to know each other. For our final challenge, we were asked to try something new and either interview each other or guest post.
We chose to do a little interview, so without father ado… Here are a few of my favorite things: Catholicism, nature, organization, green tea, John Carroll University (go Blue Streaks!), fair trade, fresh flowers, and making our tiny apartment a home. I am a passionate Catholic Youth Minister who loves working in the vineyard and leading my dear teens closer to Christ. Here are my answers to Lil’s fun questions:
Describe yourself in one word. Faithful
What is your favorite memory and why? My favorite memory, hands down, is our wedding day. My dear husband I were married on September 19, 2015 at my home parish. I am head over heels in love with Steven and it was wonderful to make a commitment to love, honor, and cherish each other in front of our friends and family. It was such a great day. I loved exchanging vows, having our first dance, and spending time at our sweetheart table soaking it all in. Five months in, forever to go!
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My high school Youth Minister, Ron. Now that I have said yes to working with high school students full time, I have begun to understand how much he sacrificed for us. He gave up nights, weekends, dates with his wife, family dinners, and so much more so that we as high school students could meet and encounter Jesus. He is in his 14th year of full time ministry and his passion for service in the Church is beautiful and inspiring to me. I hope that I can touch the lives of the teens entrusted to my care the way he touched my life.
If you were given the chance to change something from the past, what would it be? This might sound silly, but I wish I practiced the piano and violin when my parents told me to. I longingly wish I was more musical now!
What is/was your greatest sacrifice that you have made in your life? I graduated from John Carroll University in May of 2012 and immediately began a Masters program in June. I am originally from Ohio and the program required me to intern full time in Virginia, about 7 hours away from my now husband and family. It was a challenging decision to make at the time. On one hand, I had an incredible opportunity right in front of me. On the other hand, I had to let go of everything I knew and loved to move away for two years. It was a huge sacrifice, but one that I am better for. I now feel so thankful to be back home with my loved ones working in a dream career with a great Masters degree to my name.
Thank you so much Mary for sharing your heart today! It has been wonderful getting to know you and I look forward to reading more of your lovely blog in the future!
