This month I’ve been chronicling something I’m thankful for every day on my Facebook page to keep myself tuned in to focusing on the good things in life. It’s so easy to overlook those small things that add up to a list of MANY things!
We have so much to be thankful for and I want to cultivate a heart full of gratitude to the Lord, don’t you?
With Thanksgiving arriving this Thursday, I took to my Bible to look up scriptures on why I should be thankful to the Lord and I’d love to share them with you! And… I’ve got a free Thanksgiving printable for you as well!
Here are 5 scriptural reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving!
Because He is good and merciful
In the Hebrew, the word good can also be tranlated as pleasant, excellent, valuable in estimation, better and kind.
Isn’t our Lord all of those things and more?
He is merciful.
He is kind.
He is full of goodness.
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; his mercy endureth forever. -1 Chronicles 16:24
Because His judgements are righteous
Many people will point the finger at God and say that He is unfair… but we can be assured that God knows the entire story.
We can trust Him that every single thing He has done (in both the past, the present and in the future)
was/has been done in mercy and righteous judgement.
At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of they righteous judgements. Psalm 119:62
For the Victory
Victory in the Greek is the word nikos which means to utterly vanquish.
Victory over the grave.
Victory over death.
Victory over sin.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. -1 Corinthians 15:57
Because He is Holy
Because he is set apart from anything earthly. Because He is sacred. Because He is most hallowed.
Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. -Psalm 97:12
Because He always causes us to triumph
We are not losers.
We are on the winning team. We are always triumphant.
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ,
-2 Corinthians 2:14a
